Torkham post commanders sacked



TORKHAM BORDER: The Khyber Agency administration officials on the repeated complaints of transporters and local people issued dismissal orders of several Khasadars' post commanders and launched inquiry them, official sources said on Monday.
The sources said that despite permitting smuggling goods from and to Afghanistan, the Khasadars' post commanders had created law and order at Torkham border.
A well informed source at Torkham border told The News that Landikotal assistant political agent, Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah on Sunday conducted surprise visits of Torkham gate post, empty trucks post, Kosa post, export trucks post; repatriations' trucks stand post and Nato trucks post. APA during his visits to the security and checking posts found several illegalities and ignorance from duties, the sources said. He said that APA on the spot dismissed all Khasadar officials and directed to report him.

APA Tayyab confirmed the development and told this scribe that all the dismissed post commanders were illegally occupied on the posts for more then ten years. He said that the Khasadars’ post commanders were abusing transporters and were making illegal money.
He said fresh appointments would be made soon on merit and those responsible in illegal and immoral activities would awarded serious punishment.
A Khasadar official at Torkham border on the condition of anonymity told The News that the aforesaid post commanders were collecting million of black money every month and being distributed among the influential people of Landikotal. He said some of the local elders and other influentials again started their struggle to reappoint the sacked Khasadars' officials. The khasadars' officials were asked to report the Landikotal administration office and launched inquiry against them 
Local people and transporters appreciated APA Landikotal for his action and said the sacked  Khasadars' officials were collecting at least seven million of rupees every month but they did not deposit it into the government treasury. They also appeal the political Agent Khyber to appoint honest Khasadar officials on the very sensitive posts located near the Torkham border.
